Two Cadbury chocolate products remained halal

The recent re-testing of 11 samples of the 2 Cadbury chocolates directly obtained from the manufacturers by Jakim (Malaysia Islamic Development Department) has confirmed the absence of Porcine DNA trace. Jakim would review the halal suspension on Cadbury based on the new finding.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Dr Jamil Khir Baharom explained that there are possible external contamination in the the samples tested by the Ministry of Health as they were not obtained directly from the factory.

On 24th May, 2014, Malaysia's Ministry of Health has reported to have detected positive pig (porcine) DNA in 2 of the Cadbury chocolate products, i.e. Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut (batch no. 200813M01H I2, expiring on November 13, 2014) and Cadbury Dairy Milk Roast Almond (batch number 221013N01R I1, expiring on January 15, 2015).
